The Pastry Box Project

I wanted to call your attention to The Pastry Box Project, which started this year on 1st January, and aims at collecting thoughts from 30 individuals that are “influential in their field”, one thought per day — I can say I’m happy to have been asked to participate (and do visit my thought’s page).

After a restless start to the year, I finally had time and head to sit down and read through the first few weeks of thoughts. Some are longer than others, but invariably there is something alluring about diving in so quickly and for such brief a moment into someone else’s mind.

The first time I came across the Clients From Hell website I laughed and sympathised with the poor designers that had sent those quotes in. I’m not laughing now though.

We, web designers, like to complain about how little recognition our profession has, how everyone likes to think they can make a website, and how clients don’t respect our work. But when it comes to actually doing something that could make us a bit closer to any other “official” profession, we’re bored and dismiss it. It’s so much funnier to complain about IE6!

In Dreamweaver’s defense

One of the things that causes me great frustration being a web designer is how my coding tool of choice is constantly looked down on. That tool is Dreamweaver. Tired of all the nasty comments that are constantly thrown at it, I’d like to explain, to those who don’t mind reading a quick rant, why I like it. Bear with me.
